A showcase of my final project for my Interior Design degree at Norwich University of the Arts. The Collective Archive is a contemporary third space, adapting and reusing the ruins of St Mary's Church in East Somerton, Norfolk. The design features five spaces that encourage socialisation, reflection, and collaboration to establish a collective identity. Separating these interior spaces are walls made of limestone which the users are encouraged to leave marks and traces to reshape these walls as a contribution towards rewriting the narrative of the church.

The building has been designed for the purpose of reducing feelings of loneliness within rural and suburban communities, aimed towards adults of all ages.

I have also explored the concept of ‘palimpsest’, rewriting the narrative of the space, which allows the users to be a part of a collective identity, contributing towards reshaping the narrative of the ruins.
